Media reports suggest India may ease 2020-era curbs on Chinese companies bidding for government contracts to boost competition and speed up infrastructure projects.
Before 2020, Chinese players had a strong presence in the BTG segment. Post-Galwan, tighter rules sharply limited their participation.
If restrictions are rolled back, BHEL and L&T could face some competitive pressure. However, given the strategic nature of power infrastructure, Chinese participation is likely to remain selective and regulated.
India’s push for local manufacturing continues to support domestic T&D players and reduce import dependence.
